The End…

28 Mar

A big hello to anyone who is still out there (hi mom and dad!)…this little blog of mine has been the perfect place for me to document the goods and bads of my life these last few years — but as my family gets a little older and as my creative energy moves toward a new place, it seems like the right time to be done here. I have another blog over at boolahbaguette.wordpress.com – it is more focused on my handmade business and the things that inspire me, feel free to take a look. Thanks for checking in on me!

14 Feb

This class is a great way to learn about soft toy making. We will all work our way through sewing one of these charming squirrels, covering basic skills for sewing plush creatures and getting comfortable using fleece, faux fur, and simple embroidery. This pattern is a boolah baguette original, and of course there is always room to add your own one of a kind touches to your handmade critter.

Class information…

Date: Sunday, March 2, 2014
Time: 1:30-4:30pm
Place: The Meeting Room at Rusty Macdonald Library – Saskatoon
Cost: $45

*What is included?
This class includes all of the materials needed to make a squirrel as shown here. I will provide a pattern and assistance throughout the class.

*Is this class for me?
I am happy to help you as much as I can with this project, but you will need to have basic sewing skills and be familiar with your sewing machine. At this time, these classes are only being offered for adults. Also, you need to love cute things…

*What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring your own sewing machine (or borrow one, just make sure you know how to thread it, wind the bobbin, etc.), and a few extras such as scissors and thread. A full list of what to bring and any further information will be emailed to you once you have registered in the class.

If you would like to register for this class, please send an email to boolahb@gmail.com. Include your name, phone number, and preferred method of payment. Payment can be made online through paypal or etransfer, or by cash or cheque in person. Payment must be received by February 23.

Can’t wait to meet you!
xo, Erin

happy new year

i’ve been missing from here…i have an easy time letting winter take hold. on days that we have nowhere to go, i am content to stay inside making cookies and soup. i love shoveling snow (our front walk takes up half a city block, so someone better love shoveling…). i love the layers and the wool socks, a good excuse to drink tea, to stay in and get work done, or rearrange the furniture. the quiet. the lack of pressure to go and be all the time. i kind of love the cold. but this is canada and the winter is half the year – might as well love it i say.

here’s to january~

i always feel like this time of year is meant for me. and normally, i’m really prepared for it — but somehow, this year, september was a different kind of fall. and fall, so sneakily, sneaked in. the summer went on for so long that, i had almost given up on it ending. and then one day it was too cold and windy for an evening fire, and the last of the apples fell, and i found myself wearing a jacket. e started kindergarten and L began going to daycare occasionally, my christmas doll orders started to roll in, and well, this has been a big transition for everyone. i haven’t taken notice of the colors like i normally would – so i have to stop now and do that, because it’s so quick, this best time of the year.

and so i’ll be sure and take the day ‘off’ tomorrow as i celebrate 29 years…

happy fall to you ~

oh my!

two weeks ago i took a little trip. all. by. myself. (a first).

celebrated the birthday of one of my favorite ladies, biked through the tired blackberry bushes, crossed the river and rested on the small stones on the other side. we all left our kids behind and kept commenting on how civilized everything felt…you know, just eating at a regular speed and having a conversation.

so so lovely.

our summer feels like it has begun. the slams of the back door are frequent (and so are the times it is left wide open) and we move easily from the kitchen to the deck, into the water and patio chairs, down the slide and back for more snacks. full time with the kids, and wash off all the sand and dirt every evening when they fall asleep a little more tanned and totally exhausted…

hello there summer
