a weekend and recipes…

::

oh the weekend! i’m always sad to see it go. we brought home sand in our clothes from the beach, tea partied in the grass, battled the weeds, helped friends move, and ate yummy things. speaking of which, i’ve discovered two recipes that i am most in love with.

the first is a lemon-filled white chocolate scone. i know. it is as good as it sounds. i’ve never been all that impressed with the scones i make – they are more biscuit than decadent. but then i thought about some of my favorite baked goodies from around town (and this recipe that my wonderful friend s made for me!) and they all had white chocolate in common. after a quick search i found this recipe – and you know, i’m not quite sure what lemon curd is, so i used lemon spread – you know…the stuff that you find in with the jam at the grocery store. not sure if it was an appropriate substitute, but dang, sure was tasty. i would almost say that these are better the next day…if you didn’t just eat them all.

also – i am loving the figs. my other favorite this week was making toasted fig and brie sandwiches on english muffins. i imagine this would be even more delicious in some sort of sandwich press. oh, the night snacks are getting better and better around here~

hope you enjoyed your weekend!

{ps – the plate and vase in the above photos are by the wonderful carole epp…}
