thirsty days…

24 Oct

… it seems a lot of our time in the kitchen these days is revolving around drinks. neither t or i are coffee drinkers (though believe me, there have been many times when i wish i was) and so we have other beverages to rely on. i won’t talk about t’s because, well, his favorites are of a little different sort…but lately i’ve been really into decaf earl grey with some agave and milk. and we’ve all started a serious thing with apple juice. hot apple juice (straight from the microwave, the way gran’pa used to make it…). the apple juice thing has gotten a little out of hand – whenever we’re on our last apple juice, it is a big deal. like, who is going to go to the grocery store right now and buy our requisite case of apple juice so that we don’t have to bear the absence even one day! the shelves above our fridge, you know, the ones that usually hide the booze, they are stocked with apple juice. yup, we’ve gone there.

anyway, this has also been a smoothie-a-day kind of time – i usually tend toward the same recipe:

banana, frozen blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and mangoes (all, or in any combination), a scoop of goodness (optional – i use vega), scoops of plain yogurt, and fill it up half with apple juice and half with milk or soy milk. blend. lots of days when meal planning is sort of hit and miss, this becomes the main part of my lunch. love it.

what are your fall favorites?

Yum for smoothies – Joc and I are still hooked on spinach smoothies – pretty much the same recipe you use, but blend a bunch of fresh spinach with some water before you add all the other good stuff. I swear, you can’t taste the spinach! Oh and ps to Trevor: yay for beer beverages! 😉

We are on a smoothie-a-day kick around here too! So so delicious, and they fill you up! Right now I’m drinking an extra large earl grey tea, straight up. I like it strong. 🙂 Happy day to you!

can’t ever go wrong with smoothies!! looks yummy. i like , {if you are ok with peanuts} to do the choc soy milk, banana, cocoa nibs, peanut butter & agave syrup with ice to chill of course. its really energizing in the am (or whenever for that matter:)
