day one…

2 Sep

…today was e’s first day of prekindergarten. we only found out recently that she would be able to go where we’d hoped, so i hadn’t spent all summer waiting for this day. it was pretty neat though, watching her let it all sink in, everything she’d learn about one short afternoon of school. people kept asking me, can you believe she’s going to school already? and well, it’s been a mixed ride. for a long time when she was really little i was convinced that i would home school. but, as time went by i realized more and more that it just isn’t in me…makes me have all the more respect for teachers doing what they do. also – e became really interested in the idea of school, whatever that meant to her, so we decided to roll with it. so, at this point, i can honestly say that yes, i can believe she’s old enough for afternoon school. to me, it is perfect timing. i’ll admit though, my heart caught in my throat a bit as i walked out the classroom door after an ‘i love you too’ and stood on the steps for just a moment before leaving. new things for all…

…i made her this lunch kit last night with e’s choices of fabric – just the size for snacks…

…here’s to a whole new adventure…

(ps…she had a wonderful first day)
